About Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively.

Safer Internet Day 2023 is on 7th February and will be celebrated with the theme Theme: Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, and national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

The children will be watching the video you can find in the link above. They will then talk in circle time about who they should talk to if they find things that they don't like online and other age appropriate questions arising from the video.

Year 2

Year 2 will used resources from Project Evolve and complete this quiz from Think U Know  https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/4_7/6-7/badges/chatting-online/ . These resources also cover who the children should talk to about something they don't like online .

Please talk to your children about keeping safe online and if you need any further support our website has an online safety section within keeping children safe, this contains links to a range of websites. We also have an Online Safety Champion, Miss Lucas, she can be contacted for advice via the school office, as can our Safeguarding Leads who are also trained in Online Safety
