My child needs leave of absence in term time

Term Time Leave in Exceptional Circumstances

Exceptional circumstances are:

  • the death of a sibling or close relative (parent / grandparent)
  • the serious illness of a sibling or close relative (parent / grandparent) This may require medical evidence
  • Eviction from home
  • the wedding of an immediate parent or carer
  • recovery from trauma or crisis

Leave during term time will be granted in the event of one of these circumstances. You will need to complete a Leave of Absence Request Form (available from the school office).

Term Time Leave for Holidays etc

Leave of Absence is only granted in exceptional circumstances. Any other absences (e.g. for holidays during term time) are treated as Unauthorised Absence by the school and Local Authority.

Any Leave of Absence must be requested by completing a Leave of Absence Request Form (available from the school office)

Persistent Unauthorised Absence

In the event of persistent unauthorised absence, we will contact parents to offer support, but if the absence persists, we will inform the Local Authority.

If you have concerns about your child's attendance, please contact our Family Support Worker for guidance and advice.
