PFA

Welcome to

Queen’s Park Infant Academy PFA

What is the PFA?

We are a registered charity who raise money to buy resources for the school, in agreement with the Head Teacher, to enhance the curriculum and your child’s learning experiences.  We enjoy organising fund raising events and try to have fun doing it!

Who is in the PFA?

We are parents who care a great deal about our children’s education and making their time at QPIA a happy and fulfilling one.  The committee comprises a Chairperson, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.  There is also a staff representative in addition to the Head Teacher.  We also have at least two parent representatives from each year group.

What is involved?

You can be as involved as you want in the PFA.  You may want to be an active member and attend all committee meetings or you may prefer to help us on the lead up to, or at, fund raising events.  We have a meeting every 4-6 weeks on Thursday evenings at the school and more regularly before key fundraising events.

How do we raise money?

Throughout the year we organise a variety of fundraising events.

  • Christmas Bazaar – this is held in early December.  We ask children to donate unwanted toys.  Then on the day of the Bazaar the children all bring in £1 to spend on toys.  The toys are priced differently so it is an opportunity to develop their maths skills as well!  The children love it and it is an excellent way of recycling old toys and raising money for the school at the same time!  At this event we would require helpers to sort through donations and organise them ready for the Bazaar.  We also need people to run stalls and be ‘shop keepers’.
  • Spring – we always organise something special for the children around Easter time.  This year we also had a book sale on World Book Day.
  • Summer – the main event of the year is the Summer Fair.  We have stalls, games, dance performances, entertainers, pony palace, bouncy castles and so much more! It is a wonderful way to bring the school community together and celebrate another busy year.  The Summer Fair is when we raise the large majority of our money.  It is a fantastic event to be part of and we always need plenty of people to help with the organisation on the run up to the fair as well as running stalls on the day.

We also do smaller events throughout the year such as cake sales and we welcome any new suggestions for fundraising ideas!

We hope your child enjoys their time at the school and we look forward to welcoming you!

2017 Summer Fayre Success!
The sun may not have shone but the faces of many did! It would be fair to say that we had a wonderfully successful Fayre on Saturday 24th June. Thank you to all who came. Thank you to Kirstie Fernand and our superb PFA who were here bright and early setting up the event.
Thank you to the Band who kicked off the afternoon with a medley of tunes and to all who contributed with time, donations and being here! In all we raised an amazing £2,800 which means we can buy additional Numicon to be used in our Maths lessons across the school.

The afternoon resulted in some surprising changes to our children's faces - wonderful face painting, not to mention blue bubblegum ice cream! Also the appearance of glittery arms...
The dances were a highlight. Year 2 confidently performed a modern pop dance as well as Country Dances and Miss Collingbourne's Creative Dance troupe also put on a super show.
The BBQ was a roaring success and the school would like to say a special thank you to JP Morgan who donated the funds in order for the school to buy their very own BBQ. Thanks are extended to other local businesses who provided much of the food too. For more pictures of the afternoon do check out the school website and the PFAs own page.
Final words come from a parent... " We've had an awesome afternoon"... just what we hoped for.
