Easter Greetings from the School Leadership Team

Seasons greetings from the School Leadership Team!

Happy Easter from the School Leadership Team!

As we look back over this Spring term, each year group remembers some highlights in what has been another action-packed and busy term.

YR children enjoyed going on a bear hunt around the school, and even found a cave in the Wild Garden! After sharing many exciting and interesting books we finished our Book Worm topic with a fantastic trip to the Bear Factory in Bournemouth, where each class chose a special bear to make and bring back to school. We have also been learning about Growing and Changing and the children enjoyed finding out about each other's families and looking at photos of themselves as babies. We have begun finding out about how plants grow and have been spending time in our wellies in the school allotment, preparing the soil for planting.

In Y1 we have followed the adventures of the Gingerbread Man, and learned much about local and world Geography through his travels. On our bus trip into Bournemouth we were able to identify many local landmarks, which made us appreciate again what a lovely place we live. On our 'Round the World' day we learned about different continents, oceans and countries, and the children enjoyed their virtual aeroplane flight, complete with passport, boarding pass, seat number and flight attendants (another chance for the staff to dress up...!). The children have impressed us with their enthusiasm for learning during this topic, and all the lovely writing they have produced.

Y2 teachers have been delighted with the children's achievements across the curriculum. Much great writing was inspired by the visit from the Young Shakespeare Company, with their interactive performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the chance for all children to become actors for the day. Further excitement came with our 'Wow day' about Admiral Nelson and the battle of Trafalgar, followed by our trip to Portsmouth to see H.M.S Victory. The children came back buzzing with ideas and eager to find out more. This led to more wonderful learning and creative responses to all that they had experienced.

Each year group enjoyed sharing their learning and the excitement of Spring and Easter in an assembly for the parents, and we are all so proud of their achievements.

We look forward to new adventures in learning in the summer term...and lots of sunshine!
